At the Hylton Center, the American Roots Series and Matinee Idylls deliver high-caliber artistic talent in an intimate setting, where every melody feels within reach. This spring, exceptional artists and ensembles take the stage for a truly unforgettable musical experience. Take a sneak peek at the three videos below to see why we love them—and why we know you will, too.
- Nicole Zuraitis (3/7) sings “The Good Ways.” With a sparkling stage presence, sultry vocals, and superb songwriting, Nicole Zuraitis’ concerts are a must-see. She’s a two-time Grammy Award winner and six-time Grammy Award-nominated jazz singer-songwriter who has shared the stage with jazz luminaries, and still finds time to run her own charity music festival benefiting the environmental group Save the Sound. Bonus: check out her stunning cover of Dolly Parton’s classic hit “Jolene.”
- Drs. Marjory Serrano-Coyer and Hsin-Yi Chen (3/25) perform Presencias No. 7, “Rosita Iglesias” in this delightful video showcasing their musical artistry. Multicultural music and lyrical mastery intertwine when two PhDs in violin and piano join forces in a program that highlights the rich musical complexity and expressive depth found across the Americas.
- District5 (4/21) and guest narrator Tara Hoot perform “Gorgeously, You!” in this entertaining clip of a moving original composition that underscores District5’s commitment to performing powerful music, accentuated by engaging storytelling and a spotlight on underrepresented composers. Their program at the Hylton Center will feature works by Mozart, Mahler, Ravel, and Coleman, woven together with stories about some of the professional hurdles composers face in supporting themselves and their craft.
Don’t miss your chance to witness exceptional artistry up close this spring on the American Roots Series in the Gregory Family Theater and on the Matinee Idylls series in the Jacquemin Family Foundation Hall.
