Become a volunteer at the Hylton Center and join a welcoming community dedicated to supporting the arts.

Whether you choose to usher at performances and events, support fundraising and marketing efforts, or represent the Hylton Center and its Friends program at performances and community events, you can volunteer in a wide variety of roles and at various times.  Our volunteers are a diverse and fun group to work with, help create a welcoming environment and contribute to the success of the Hylton Center year-round.

"I have been with the Hylton Performing Arts Center as a Volunteer Usher… The Hylton is truly a family and community organization. As a military spouse, I am so proud to be a part of how the Hylton honors the military in the community and has outreach to military families … The Hylton performances that we volunteer-usher are top notch orchestral shows, with a variety of cultural opportunities, from ballet to solo artists from around the world, just to mention a few, along with traditional holiday events such as The Nutcracker. The programs that the Hylton offers are truly a value to the Prince William County community."

—Donna M Leahy, Hylton Volunteer Usher

You must be willing to commit at least eight months of service.

Marketing Community Outreach volunteers represent the Hylton Center at a variety of community events by staffing a Hylton Center table where they share general information and hand out Hylton season materials. Community Outreach volunteers are scheduled several weeks in advance whenever possible. Depending upon the calendar of events, an email will be sent out periodically notifying volunteers of any upcoming opportunities. Volunteers who staff Hylton Center vendor tables in the community will be offered two complimentary tickets to a select Hylton Presents performance.

Development volunteering includes staffing the Friends of the Hylton Center information table in the Didlake Grand foyer, greeting members in the Friends Hospitality Area and Lovey Hammel Lounge, and selling Hylton Center Commemorative Ornaments. Volunteers working performances receive one complimentary ticket to attend the performance that corresponds with their volunteer hours.

Administrative Support volunteers help our Marketing and Development teams in the office on an as-needed basis. Duties range from helping with mailings, sorting materials, organizational projects, and more. Administrative Support volunteers are scheduled several weeks in advance, whenever possible. Depending upon the calendar of events and administrative projects, an email will be sent out periodically notifying volunteers of any upcoming opportunities.
