Pretty much everyone agrees—the Syncopated Ladies are a vibe.
“They killed it!”—Beyoncé
“Love!”—Janet Jackson
“The amazing Syncopated Ladies”—Mariah Carey
“Brilliant!”—Whoopi Goldberg
No, we didn’t make up these quotes. It’s just that the Syncopated Ladies’ talent and swagger has made a supernova-sized cultural impact. The all-women tap dance sensation hails from Los Angeles and is led by dancer and choreographer Chloé Arnold, a protégé of Debbie Allen. Referred to as “Flawless, absolutely flawless!” (ABC), their high-energy viral videos of flawless dancing set to all kinds of music including pop, hip-hop, salsa, and R&B have amassed more than 100 million views. A key moment for the group was when entertainment icon Beyoncé reposted their astounding tap dance ode to “Formation,” catapulting them to a new level of notoriety.
Since then, they’ve worked with Beyoncé, performed on FOX's So You Think You Can Dance, Good Morning America, countless other film and TV appearances, and performed sold-out concerts.
“Through the language of tap dance, we celebrate our love for the art and sisterhood,” Chloé Arnold says. “Our powerful bond is expressed through our rhythms, movement, and storytelling. Our authentic stories resonate through our unified sound and empower others to be themselves and to be free.” Dancer Maud Arnold adds, "Tap for me means and feels like freedom. To be in control of space, time, and my body. It is a magical and powerful feeling."
Don’t miss the opportunity to see Chloé Arnold’s Syncopated Ladies LIVE (3/22) in Merchant Hall. It’s an evening you won’t soon forget!
