Each season, Hylton Center audiences look forward to Mason Cabaret’s annual showcase. Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy Mason School of Theater’s stellar vocal talent and to get your Broadway fix!
Director James Gardiner lays out what to expect during this incredible night:
"This year marks the 12th anniversary of Mason Cabaret. Over the last decade, we’ve highlighted the work of iconic composers who made a significant impact on musical theater, including Stephen Sondheim, Kander and Ebb, Irving Berlin, and many others. This year, for the first time, we shift our focus to honor the extraordinary contributions of a producer and director: Hal Prince.
“Widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in musical theater history, Hal Prince reshaped the landscape of American musical theater during the latter half of the 20th century. His visionary work, in collaboration with groundbreaking artists, continually expanded the boundaries of what a musical could be. The phrase, 'You can’t do that in a musical,' simply did not apply to Hal’s productions—a boldness that remains the hallmark of his legacy.
“This winter, 22 talented George Mason students will take on his diverse and dynamic catalog, presenting a performance that celebrates his unparalleled impact on the theater world. We hope this year’s show will illuminate the genius and innovation that defined Hal Prince’s career."
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves! Purchase your tickets today and join us on Friday, February 7 at 8 p.m. The performance will also take place at Harris Theatre in Fairfax, VA (1/31–2/2).
