The Hylton’s American Roots Series comes in strong in 2025, kicking things off with an early Mardi Gras celebration featuring trumpeter and George Mason University Dewberry School of Music faculty member Graham Breedlove (1/25). Currently a trumpet soloist with The U.S. Army Blues jazz ensemble, part of The United States Army Band ‘Pershing's Own,’ Breedlove has appeared as a soloist, composer/arranger, and lead musician on seven albums with The Army Blues.

“My goal is to create an exciting gumbo of traditional New Orleans jazz mixed with modern tunes and original compositions, all of them seasoned with spicy Louisiana music influences,” Breedlove said. “I'll be joined by fellow George Mason Jazz faculty member Dr. Shawn Purcell (guitar) and some of the finest jazz musicians in the area. Come celebrate Mardi Gras early, and join us on a parade through the French Quarter without ever leaving your seat!”

Next in the lineup is blues and soul prodigy Dylan Triplett (2/8) in concert. This rising star has been performing since age 9. At just 23 years old, he’s already won the Blues Music Award for Best Emerging Artist Album.

"It will be a night to remember for blues and soul music lovers," Triplett said. "I’ll definitely bring high energy to the GMU [George Mason University] stage. I’m excited to come through and I know that my band and I will give it our all with some electrifying pure St. Louis blues and soul at its finest. I’m looking forward to meeting and connecting with everyone, and playing some good blues and soul music. It will be a real enjoyable experience."
