Veterans Virtual Guitar Workshops

Join us this spring for new Veterans and the Arts Initiative workshop opportunities! Our ever-popular Veterans Virtual Guitar Workshops (Level I, Level II) return, providing new and experienced musicians alike with the opportunity to hone their strings skills. Or, looking for a fun activity for kids? Children between the ages of nine and 12 are invited to join in a Songwriting Series for Military Kids workshop (2/25–3/17). Both beginner and advanced students are invited to participate, and may bring musical works in progress! The class will explore composition, recording, producing, and performing. If visual art is more your jam, consider joining our Introduction to Smartphone Photography workshop (3/14–3/28). You’ll hone your visual awareness and learn composition, lighting, editing, and more.

New to the list of offerings: Empowered Legacy: Preserving Military Stories Workshops (4/3–4/17), where you’ll create personal and meaningful works. Tina Claflin, retired Coast Guard Veteran and owner of Halcyon Reflections LLC, will guide the creation of mixed media art. Finally, our Flower-Hammering and Printing Workshop (5/4 or 5/6) will be led by Emily Fasick, who will teach Tataki zome, the technique of crushing real flowers and leaves onto fabric to create abstract patterns using botanical dyes.

We encourage all Veterans, Servicemembers, military family members, and military caregivers to unlock their creativity this spring in one or more of our free workshops and eventsLearn more about the transformative impact of the Veterans and the Arts Initiative in this special podcast with Niyati Dhokai, program director of the Veterans and the Arts Initiative.
